Planning Mindmap

Analysis:

To being my planning of my magazine i felt it was best to create a brainstorm in order for me to clearly see what had to be done to create my magazine.

I created 5 sub-headings which helped me organise my work into categories to allow me to clearly see what needed to be done for each part of my magazine; the front cover, double page spread and contents page. I firstly started off by looking at names for my magazines. I came up with 8 different names, All of which were original and unique names. I picked out my two favorite names which were 1) Pipeline 2) Intro. I liked both of these names as i feel they fit to the genre of music my magazine specializes in, are catchy and easy to remember. To conclude i have chosen to go with the name Pipeline. I have chosen this name as i feel it best fits the genre of music in the 'pipeline', means upcoming music/bands, therefore the name has a meaning behind it therefore this may help the audience remember the name.

I also looked at colour schemes for my magazine. I came up with a combination of different colours that i felt worked well together and portrayed the genre of music. I looked at 8 different options and my favorite combinations of colours were; 1) Silver and red 2) Dark blue and grey 3) Black, red, grey/silver. I liked these colour schemes the most out of my combinations as i feel these colours work well together and convey the genre of music. I also feel with these colours they will standout against other leading music magazines that specialize in the same genre of music.

Another category i looked into was images, this was for the front cover, contents page and double page spread. For the front cover i said i would include a large image of a male model tjhat will fill most of the space on the front cover. I decided on a male model as this was the most popular chocie on my second questionairre. I have also decided to make the image big to promote the artist and to make the front cover eye-catching and standout. I also stated that i will add additonal photos of other artisits on the front cover to advertise whats in the magazine. For the contents page i said i would include Images of artists that are featured in the rest of the magazine and a larger image of the artist that is featured on the front cover and double page spread. Finally for the double page spread i have decided that i shall included a large image that covers one of the A4 pages, the same artist that is feature on the main cover and the pose of the male model will be casual and natural.

I looked at other items i would feature in my magaizne, and sub-categorised it into the front cover, contents page and double page srpead. For the front cover i came up with a verity of ideas that would make my front cover more appealing and eye-catching. I came up with Pugs, barcode, price of the magazine, and advertising promotions. I felt these ideas were all important to place on my front cover. For the contents page i said i would include; how to subscribe for magazine online, promotions, page numbers and the web adress. I feel all of these elements will make my contents page useful for the reader as page numbers will allow them to find what they want easily, and help them with how to subscribe, but at the same time all these elements will make the page intresting and visually good. For the double page spread i said i would have evenly spread out colums to make the page neat and for the consumer to read the article easily, and the web adress to consistanly promote the online website.

The final area i looked into was cover lines. I felt this was an important area to consider and plan as cover lines on the front cover on a magazine useually help to drawn in the read and make them want to buy it, therefore i felt it was important to come up with a varity of ideas which would make the magazines appealing and intresting.

Overall i found doing this brainsotrm very useful as it has allowed me to see the areas i need to plan.
